Levels & Profiles
XP system tracking text messages and voice time, customizable rank cards, and leaderboards.
The leveling system has an often-overlooked feature: you can split text tracks from voice tracks — meaning a member can be level 10 in text and 4 in voice at the same time. Read step two before deciding.
Enable the system
The main toggle enables point tracking (text + voice) and reveals commands to members.
Choose: single level or two separate levels?
An important decision that affects the card design and leaderboard:
Single level — Text and voice merge into a single number. Simpler and clearer for members.
Two separate levels — Independent text and voice tracks. Ideal if your server has two distinct groups (chatters vs voice dwellers).
When dual mode is enabled: the card displays both tracks, and the leaderboard splits into a separate list for each track.
Set role rewards
Link each level to an automatically assigned role.
A tip that makes a difference: give the role actual utility — access to a private channel, image upload permissions, or giveaway priority. A role that only changes name color won't motivate anyone past the first week.
Design the rank card
Custom background (PNG/JPG) and a color applied to the font, XP bar, and avatar ring.
There is a live preview — the bar fills up gradually just like it appears to the member.
Configure the level-up message
Choose where it posts and what it says. Variables keep it personalized.
Tip: If your server is large, don't keep it in the main chat — it will flood the channel with level-up messages. Dedicate a channel for it.
{user} · {level} · {server}Set allowed command channels
If you don't select any channel, the command works in all channels.
You'll usually want !rank and !top restricted to a bot channel so they don't disrupt chat.
How the system works
The leveling system turns activity into a competition. Lona tracks two types of activity:
Message XP — Points per message, with a cooldown to prevent spamming from boosting levels.
Voice XP — Points per minute in a voice channel. This sets your server apart, as most bots only track text messages.
When a member reaches a specific level, they automatically get a level-up role configured in the dashboard. The rank card is generated as an image displaying their avatar, color, and progress.
The formula is progressive: each level requires more XP than the last—keeping high levels valuable.
Want to boost activity on a specific day?
!xpboost 2x 3h — 2x XP multiplier for 3 hours!top — then check the new leaderboardA member says their level isn't increasing
!setlevel diagnose @member — gives you the exact reason!بطاقتي displays a full profile card, while !rank shows the level card—they are two different things.
