Quick start
Your first five minutes with Lona — from inviting the bot to running your first command.
Invite Lona to your server
Open the invite link, choose your server, and keep all requested permissions checked.
Lona needs Administrator, or at minimum: Manage Roles, Manage Channels, Kick and Ban Members, Manage Messages, and View Audit Log.
Move Lona's role up
This is the most important step and the one most often overlooked.
Go to Server Settings → Roles and drag Lona's role to the top, above any roles you want it to manage.
Here's why: Discord prevents any bot from acting on roles positioned higher than its own. If Lona's role is below a member's role, !ban on them will fail regardless of its permissions.
Understand the two command types
Lona supports two types, with most commands belonging to the first:
Prefix commands — Start with ! like !ban @member. These make up most of Lona's commands (279 commands) and are faster to type.
Slash commands — Start with / and show an autocomplete list explaining each option (72 commands).
Change the prefix (optional)
The default prefix is !. If you prefer a dot: !prefix .
Once you set a custom prefix, the default ! is completely disabled.
Try your first command
Type /help — an interactive menu of all Lona categories appears; select a category to see what it offers.
For security specifically: !hs opens the security command guide.
Open the dashboard
Most settings aren't configured via commands at all — welcome messages, security, levels, auto-responses, and reaction roles are all managed through the dashboard's visual interface.
Log in with Discord, select your server, and get started.
